Our Guides

Jason “JB” Balogh

Head Fishing Guide

JB hails from Memphis, TN, but his first fishing experiences were with his grandfather on the lakes of Northern Minnesota catching Bass, Blue Gills, Crappie, and Pike. He studied Physics at Sewanee and Civil Engineering at Washington University and chose to follow his passion for fly fishing instead of sitting in an office. He has lived in Jackson Hole for 25 years and has been guiding the region’s rivers for the past twenty one years.

His fly fishing passion has taken him all over the world to chase different species including Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon. Recently, JB ran the Fishing program at the famed Crescent H Ranch, and when it closed to commercial operations, he purchased their permits and started a guide service to complement his travel business.

JB cherishes time spent with his children, especially in the outdoors!

Michael Wold

Fishing Guide

Michael was born and raised in the Great Plains of South Dakota and the Twin Cities in Minnesota. His love of the outdoors was cultivated during family fishing trips to northern Minnesota chasing bass, bluegill, walleye, and northern pike.

Shortly after college, he moved West to Jackson and has lived here for multiple decades. He fell in love with all that Wyoming has to offer including fly fishing, skiing, and riding his dirt bike. He is one of the few lucky ones to have met his wife, Ashley, in Jackson and together they have two young boys.

When he’s not fly fishing, Michael can be found playing the boys or helping out with Ashley’s small business, Mountains of Groceries. Michael’s laid back demeanor and fun sense of humor has made him a client favorite!

Cooper Pinckney

Fishing Guide

Cooper cut his teeth on fly fishing on the small streams of North Carolina. Chasing redfish and tying flies that catch them were his game after his family moved to Amelia Island, Florida.

Cooper spent a season guiding in Alaska, but moved to Jackson Hole to be a full time guide in 2021. He instantly became a guest favorite with his down-to-earth nature and fish finding skills.

Bruce Wolf

Fishing Guide

Bruce grew up fly-fishing with his grandfather and enjoys fishing for everything from panfish and bass, to ocean fishing, but most of all trout. Bruce graduated from the University Wyoming where he enhanced his knowledge of backcountry fishing around the state.

Bruce’s professional career took him to the east where he learned to fish the Delaware River and surrounding area. Each year he would return to the greater Yellowstone and Teton region to chase Cutthroat trout.
Bruce has a keen love for fishing in the backcountry. He enjoys showing folks what it is he loves about the land, its history and why trout fishing is so much fun.

Austin Roy

Fishing Guide

Austin grew up playing hockey and fishing the river of Central Maine. After his hockey dream fizzled, he decided to move out west and landed in Salt Lake City, UT. Here he began his guiding career on the Provo River and the Green River and stayed there for 3 years. After a while, the crowded rivers of Utah forced him to look elsewhere and he recently made the move to Wyoming. He found his home in Alpine, WY where he lives with his girlfriend and 2 dogs. They fish as much as they can and love to ski in the Winter.

Henry Gibson

Fishing Guide

Henry came to Jackson Hole from Kansas City, MO. He grew up spending Summers in the Ozark mountains, where he fished bass tournaments at Table Rock Lake with his friends. It wasn’t long before he was looking for more of a challenge in fishing though. The mountains of Colorado were calling and this is where he picked up a fly rod and never looked back!

As his knowledge and love of fly fishing grew, Henry began to look for mountains that were less crowded and found Jackson hole. Henry is grateful to spend his days here sharing his passion with others who have that same love or are willing to learn!

Tracy grew up in the most Northeastern state of Maine where she was taught to fish by her dad and grandfather.

After years of visiting and fishing with her brother in Wyoming, she decided to make Jackson her home.

When not fishing, Tracy can be found hiking and exploring all the beautiful places that Wyoming has to offer. One of her goals in life is to catch as many species of fish as she can.

Andy Shanks

Fishing Guide

Andy was born in upstate New York but moved to the Seattle area as a young boy and it was there that he found his passion for fishing. He fell in love with salmon and steelhead fishing on the local and coastal rivers around Washington and owned a charter/guiding service on the Puget Sound for seven years where he enjoyed introducing people to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

After his two sons went off to college, he and his wife moved to Jackson Hole. Here he has been able to float the area rivers and focus on fly fishing.

Andy especially loves seeing the joy of his clients as they catch their first trout while sharing the natural beauty of Wyoming. When not guiding you can find Andy downhill skiing, hiking with his three dogs, or creating unique wood and metal art pieces.

Alan Yannelli

Fishing Guide

Alan was born and raised in Central Maine where he grew up chasing brook trout, bass, and landlocked salmon. He moved to Jackson Hole to focus on his love of all things outdoors, specifically fly fishing, hunting, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Luckily, he made time to meet his wife, Christi, and they live together with their three dogs and lone cat.

Alan is also an accomplished fly tier and loves to take his creations on hikes into the mountains to explore new, remote fishing spots. In his free time, he enjoys taking his wife and the dogs for a float on the Snake River.
